Perfect serpent warrior not doing anything while in defensive stance

Perfect Serpent Warrior are not acting while in Defensive stance from Meat Shield support gem. I just equipped the gem and wanted to try their defensive stance abilities and they just do a short animation ( i'm assuming it's their animation showing they are going defensive) and they just stand still following my characters =/

Just FYI, this is a know / reported issue, but doesn't appear to be something that GGG will acknowledge or address anytime soon.
