Lose # Life per Enemy Killed bug
|
I have Lose # Life per Enemy Killed on the ring, but I'm not killing any monsters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1virFuTsa1E In the video, I die twice, but when I die, I haven't used any skills. https://poe.ninja/poe1/pob/8a761 I don't know what's triggering Lose # Life per Enemy Killed. My glove has "Minions convert 100% of Fire Damage to Chaos Damage", and I haven't "Minions have #% chance to Poison Enemies on Hit".
So, I don't think my minions can make dot. |

" edit: Oh, okay, I looked at your character again and some of it was your Minion Instability. But I still think your Forbidden Flesh / Forbidden Flame's Profane Bloom is what's getting you killed. " Profane Bloom requires a kill to trigger. However, if a kill causes me to lose life and die, I would already be dead before Profane Bloom even triggers. Additionally, when a minion gets a kill, the Profane Bloom it triggers belongs to the minion, not the character. If it were counted as the character's kill, I should have died the moment the minion killed an enemy. |
|
" I am not considering the first Profane Bloom. Profane Bloom can self-perpetuate. We know that the game wants to attribute every kill to an entity, and we know that the game wants to specifically do so to an entity that still exists. If a Raging Spirit's Minion Instability kills an enemy, and that enemy's death procs Profane Bloom - both the Minion Instability damage and the Profane Bloom damage will be attributed to that minion. I believe - thus far - we are agreed. But what happens next? It is not at all clear to me that if the first Profane Bloom kills a cursed enemy resulting in another Profane Bloom that this subsequent Profane Bloom would also be attributed to the minion - afterall, we know that it is dying, and so there is a chance the server has fully deleted the minion before Profane Bloom #2 activates. In which case the only entity still around to be blamed for kills is your character. I can't think of proof or a precedent for this - but unless I have missed something (apologies if so!), you haven't specifically ruled it out, either. Somewhat messily - if such an explosion chain is an oversight, it could be subject to a race condition where the behaviour is inconsistent. In which case a test that rules it out might not be conclusive. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" That would be the case if Profane Bloom explosion has occurred "after" minion death. I'm pretty sure the death and the explosion is a part of the same calculation step so it happens on the same server frame. As well as all the explosions in the potential chain. If the minions are unable to apply DoT, then the kill shouldn't be delegated to the player, and so the ring (that has already been replaced it seems) should not kill the character. There is still the mod on the shield that is going to kill a CI character if it land a crit few times in a row. Btw, we don't know what's equipped on the guardian, is there a chance that it has some mod with "% chance to poison" or "to bleed" Last edited by ThisIsAJoke#3467 on Mar 19, 2026, 10:11:58 AM

Does it only happen with the lose life ring, or does it also happen with your new ring as well without the modifier?
Have you tried with the lose life ring and Minion Instability removed? I'm wondering if for some reason MI is what's causing the DoT which then goes back to the player. I slowed down the video and I see a minion on somewhat low HP standing around, they disappear, a delay, and then you die. Could just be recasting and coincidence, but seems odd that it happened for both deaths. But could also tie into Sarno's theory of no minion around to Bloom goes to the player. |

" Since I replaced the ring, I haven't died like that anymore. Your theory does make some sense, but if the kill attribution works that way — delegating to the player when no minion is around — that sounds like a bug to me. |
|
" That is not my understanding - but to be clear, I'm not claiming to know for certain. " The character has Necromantic Aegis; they should be safe from their shield. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
