Legacy of the Vaal Bugged

I found out a bugg on a quest as mentioned previosly the quest is ( legacy of the vaal )

So I have this item called the small soul core and it tells me to place it on the altar to activate it, but I tried everything for 30 mins and nothing worked, I did : right click , left click and drag the item to altar, throw the item to the altar, equip item. None of this activate the altar.

I guess is buggued please let me know anything as I m stuck at this point.
