Bino's doesn't spread poisons if the target dies from the hit that would have poisoned

Trying out Viper strike of the mamba and it seems that if the target that gets struck dies from the hit that would inflict a poison stack it doesn't count towards Bino's spreading that poison because I guess the target isn't poisoned because it's dead?
