Cant add E-mail, i cant now use my steam account.

I’m writing this post because after four email exchanges with support, the issue still hasn’t been resolved. Support keeps suggesting that the problem is related to my browser or browser extensions. However, I have already tested the process on three different browsers, with the same result every time. I also waited the required time between attempts. Each time I try to link my email to my Steam account, I receive the message: "Rate limiting active. You must wait 3600 seconds." This message continues to appear even after waiting well over an hour, which makes it impossible to proceed with linking the account or accessing the game. Has anyone else experienced this problem or found a solution? I would really appreciate any advice or help from the community or the moderators. Last bumped on Mar 11, 2026, 6:17:48 PM

Hi there! Can you please try clearing your browser cache and disabling any extensions you may have active? Sometimes this issue can be caused by a 3rd party tool on the browser or by spamming buttons.

Are you using any kind of shared connection (e.g. a computer on a college campus) ?

Hello,
I want to explain the situation clearly without sharing my actual account details. Let’s call the accounts and emails: Account A – previously had Email X Account B – my main account, currently has no email assigned and never had one Some time ago I changed the email on Account A from Email X to Email Y. So Email X is no longer attached to Account A. Now I want to assign Email X to Account B, because this is the account I actually use as my main account. However, the system keeps blocking this with a rate limit / restriction, apparently because Email X was used in the past on Account A, even though it is not attached to it anymore. Support keeps suggesting browser or extension issues, but this happens on multiple browsers and after waiting the required time. The problem seems to be that the system still treats Email X as if it is reserved for Account A, which is no longer the case. |
