Question About Kill Credit with Searing Bond of Detonation

Hello,

I would like to ask about the kill attribution of the new 3.28 skill Searing Bond of Detonation.

Since this is a totem skill, I noticed that when enemies die from the Detonation effect, it does not seem to count as a kill by my character.

Because of this, several "on kill" effects do not appear to trigger, including:

Mana gained on kill from passive tree nodes

Microtransaction effects that trigger when killing rare monsters

I own several of these microtransaction effects, but none of them appear to trigger when enemies die from the detonation.

I also did some small tests and it seems that even the normal Searing Bond totem link damage does not trigger "on kill" effects, and naturally the detonation explosion does not either.

So my question is:

Is this behavior intended?

If the kills from Searing Bond (or its detonation) are not attributed to the player, does that also mean that the following would not apply?

Item Rarity Support

IIQ / IIR from gear

IIQ / IIR from the Atlas passive tree

I noticed this because "on kill" effects were clearly not triggering, which made me wonder whether the kill attribution mechanics for this skill are different from other totem skills.

Thank you for any clarification.

I am a player from the Taiwan realm, but the Taiwan realm forum rarely seems to get any official responses.

This is working as intended.

Any minions, mines, totems, or other party members in the Map are not considered to be You. For your On Kill effects to trigger, You need to be the one that kills the enemy.

Your Increased Item Quantity and Increased Item Rarity will work. Those are intentional exceptions to the usual rules. (As an aside, this also means that any IIQ and IIR they have is discarded.)

Alright, before I made my original post, I actually didn’t notice that the Microtransaction finisher effects are separated between Unique or Rare monsters.

However, after doing some testing just now, I found that the Microtransaction effects do trigger correctly, whether the kill is done by me or by my totems.

So I think those effects are probably outside the scope of the gameplay mechanics being discussed here. I was mainly confused by the description of the "Verisium Knight Unique Finisher Effect", which made me think it might be related to kill attribution.

In any case, thank you very much for helping clarify this for me.
