Visual bug with pausing inside mirage

Mirage areas have a visual effect of gold and purple particles streaking through the air.
If you pause the game while inside, it will keep spawning them, and when you unpause, they all appear at once. A few minutes can lead to a screen-filling burst and it can get a bit laggy.
