Unable to link Steam account after email verification

Hi,

I’m trying to log back into Path of Exile after several years of not playing. I normally access the game through Steam.

When I try to log in, the website asks me to verify my email. After completing the email verification, I attempt to link my Steam account, but I receive the following error message:

"There was an error linking your account. Please contact support here https://www.pathofexile.com/support for assistance."

I have already tried:

Logging in through Steam

Verifying my email

Attempting the link again

But I keep getting the same error.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
