Secret Crafts, Quests and Easter eggs!

Upon closely following the narrative arc of the campaign and the extensive lore embedded within item flavor text—much of which, while mechanically suboptimal for the endgame, serves as rich world-building I can’t help but conclude that we are merely scratching the surface.

There is a compelling case to be made that Path of Exile 2 contains a sophisticated layer of "clandestine" content: secret crafting recipes, hidden quest chains, and intricate Easter eggs intentionally woven into the game's architecture. While the community often gravitates toward the perennial "fishing" or "Rhoa" memes, these feel increasingly like diversionary tactics—brilliant red herrings designed to mask more substantive, deeper interactions.

The complexity of certain campaign quest items, in particular, suggests utility that extends far beyond their stated objectives. Given GGGs history of rewarding inquisitive players and their cryptic design of items, it is highly probable that POE2 hides significant systemic secrets awaiting discovery by a dedicated collective.

Item Utility vs. Lore Significance: Are these seemingly "leveling uniques" actually keys to environmental triggers?

The Red Herring Theory: If fishing is the distraction (or just another word for *Seeking interactions/Triggers*), what specific mechanics (e.g., vendor recipes/Reforge bench, environmental emotes, or item combinations) are we overlooking?

Quest Item Persistence: Why do certain items feel intentionally over-designed for simple fetch-quests?

I would be interested to hear the community’s hypotheses on where these hidden interactions might be lurking—especially from those who suspect the true secrets lie far away from the usual "troll" mechanics!

Let me open with TLDR: There are secret quests. Secret craftable items too.

i have been saying this for a while now.

You seem to be onto something.

It isn’t that fishing is a red herring

You have to understand the context of fishing.

Krillson has the best text file for this purpose.

Other entities in the game consider the player either to be a fish or a whale.

Krillson thinks of us as a whale.

Many other characters think of us as a fish.

Our ability to collect the things Krillson desires makes us a whale in his eyes.

I’ve also heard there’s a way into act 2 without the hooded one. (Directly from patch notes during .2 from devs directly btw, they confirmed you can get to act 2 without hooded one in patch notes)

And something about a Wendigo boss that’s been hiding in the shadows all along in act 3.

Wendigo boss is in act 3 zone called gone fishing.

What else can I tell you…

Einhar is crowbell I suspect.

Una is death, Finn is chaos, hooded one is sin.

What else, what else….

Authority goes a long way I suspect.

Oh, the least important part of hunting grounds (for progressing things now) is the albino rhoa feather…

And you really aren’t suppose to kill the poor albino rhoa. You are suppose to tame it.

But even that I suspect is for the end of the secret quest chain. The real important parts of hunting grounds has nothing to do with the albino rhoa or its feather.

The riddle to spawn rib rattle and “doggo” specter you can get from hunting grounds far cooler.

The doggo I still don’t know what it does but it seems like a good boy. It doesn’t attack or provide a debuff or buff I can see, but it cheers me on when it’s done taking its walk to me. I call it the rain dancing doggo.

One day I will discover its purpose.

It’s weird how my doggo specter walks on two legs and looks identical to the widely feared Wendigo.

It’s also weird how wendigo’s have deer skulls… and ritual has deer skulls…. And my two legged doggo specter has a deer skull head as well….

And gone fishing act 3 Wendigo boss is ritual pinnacle content…

Strange, so many connecting aspects….

Perhaps if people listened to me a year ago we would have made more progress, but I’m always willing to help and receive the help of others in such endeavors.

Let us begin anew. I have shared a good amount of what I know.
