Expedition explosives don't spawn in on controller?

I have not tried WASD, but I have checked the entire map for explosives, and they are nowhere to be found! I checked before and after I killed the map boss, but I do not see them. Is this a known issue? Or am I doing something wrong?

Never mind, I now see you do not actually pick up explosives, you just hit a hotkey.
