Help regarding client

I was gifted Path of Exile 2 through steam, i have downloaded the standalone client and went to log in, i choose to create a account and linked it through steam where the game was purchased but i cant log in as i dont have a email address or password to enter in the box as the game was bought through a steam key. when i attempt to log in through steam i get to the character select and the game crashes and restarts. Thank you

Where did you get the Steam key?
Having spent thousands of euros on Path of Exile over the years, I will not be further supporting it financially until and unless GGG resumes offering Technical Support.

you can see/change the email the account is tied and change the pw to on the my account page.
