PoE2 Future Breach Mechanic Suggestion
|
I really like most of the PoE Keeper's league mechanic (genesis tree, wombgifts, graftblood), but I think the in-map mechanic is lacking and a lot of people think it's annoying.
I think that breach in PoE2 could adopt the tree (or something similar) with the wombgifts and graftblood, but do something a bit different that I think would be cool. Instead of the tower defense sort of thing, just keep the breach portals like they are in PoE2, but make it so there are 5 different types (one for each breachlord). Each different type of breach is thematically and mechanically different from the others, and the rewards vary depending upon which one was opened. If you clear the breach fast enough, it stabilizes like in PoE Keepers and there is a Unique monster and maybe some rare monsters that spawn, each themed around the breachlord. When they are killed, they should drop wombgifts of a specific type associated with the breachlord whose portal it is as well as splinters of that specific breachlord. (Other mobs should also have a chance to drop splinter and maybe some lesser currencies as well). The splinters are used to open a portal to fight a boss like Xesht, Xoph, Chayula, etc. The wombgifts are the 'crafting' currency used to get items from the genesis tree, or whatever you end up calling it. I think this would significantly expand and improve the breach mechanic in PoE2, and address the complaints the community has regarding the Keeper's league in PoE.
