What happened exactly? You accidently set the price to 51c (Instead of DIV?) then it was locked before you noticed it and couldn't retrieve it before someone bought it? Is that correct?
I don't know exactly why the locking happens, but I assume it is necessary, and probably is to do with the delay on items getting uploaded to the trade exchange, or to stop shenanigans (people messing around) with items listing and un-listing them rapidly. There is a grace period before the locking though, so you must of not realised you had done it until after the grace period? Did the item get bought during the item locked period, or instantly after it unlocked, before you retrieved it? I don't know how it works exactly. It's unfortunate, but as with in person trading, you still need to be careful of making errors and scams. (Looking into it a bit more trying to understand the process, I saw this POE2 thread of players with similar experience. So I guess what happens is the item is locked to the seller but not buyer for a short period after the grace period. I assume the reason is, since the trade is not instant, but rather involves the buyer having to travel to the sale point, they don't want to waste buyers time by having listed items changing shortly after listing, and potential trolling of listing and removing item when the buyer enters. If the seller was able to change the price with out this locking period, there would probably be buyers arriving to a different price in the short time it takes to go to the item, causing confusion and possibly accidental buying at the wrong price. The trade and in game market list it as "instant trade", but the way the Dev describe it, as "asynchronous trade" is more accurate. I think the amount of time they have set for the locking, is probably an amount they think will avoid most of these problems, while having the seller not have to wait too long if the do want to change the listing. There may be technical reasons as well though. I certainly find it annoying for inventory management within the sale window, and noise echo of the items locking into status. Overall though, I think all the trading mechanisms the have added in the last year, have been technical implemented fairly well. There is still things they can continue to improve, but it is largely pretty good to interact with. It has broken the availability of most items in face to face trading, but it works fairly well, given it is a new system in a 10 year old game. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3842152) Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Feb 5, 2026, 10:45:41 PM
