Lack of Death Feedback Makes One-Shots Feel Unfair
|
Hello!
I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say I’m getting really discouraged by how often I’m being one-shot, and not just by bosses. It often feels like regular monsters can delete you instantly, even when your defenses seem reasonable. I’m level 97, capped at 75% all res, with a solid amount of life and Energy Shield, and after putting in hundreds of hours since early access started, it’s hard not to ask: what am I building all of this for if pushing content feels this punishing? I understand that dodging mechanics and paying attention is part of the game, and I’m not asking for the difficulty to disappear. What feels especially bad is dying without any feedback—no indication of what actually killed me or what damage type I failed against. When you combine that with one portal, 10% XP loss, and losing all ongoing mechanics, it becomes more frustrating than motivating. I’m not trying to complain for the sake of it, and I genuinely love the game. I just don’t think I’m alone in feeling discouraged when deaths feel sudden, opaque, and unrecoverable, especially when trying to push higher content. Last bumped on Feb 4, 2026, 4:03:21 PM

I agree. Deaths in this game are very cryptic. I would love if there was a better way to determine what you died from.
For now I look here https://poe2db.tw/us/ and try to determine what move the boss did that killed me. Last edited by darrenrob82#3531 on Feb 4, 2026, 4:03:43 PM
