first checkpoint in temple

I am probably not the only one who thinks that the first checkpoint in the temple is severely misplaced.

Especially if you have no middle path, and if you are going to the right side first naturally. Which I think many people do.

And then what happens is, you miss this important checkpoint. And if you have no checkpoints along the way on the right path, you have to walk back all the way... super annoying.

If the checkpoint would just be placed a little bit further towards the starting area, so that when you walk up there, you will automaticly activate the checkpoint, no matter what direction you go, that would help so much. And it is probably the easiest thing to fix for you GGG.

So please just do it...as a hotfix maybe. So simple. Yet so needed and a nice improvement to the temple, especially for beginners.

Edit: I mean even if you have a checkpoint along the way on the right path, you are not able to use it, when the starting checkpoint at the centre is not activated. Big bummer.

We need a checkpoint in every room. Or at least a checkpoint in every alternate room.

totally agree. I don't understand why GGG is so greedy with checkpoints. Let us have some quality of life. We don't have nice movement speed skills, well except for maybe blink if your cooldown is low enough, and even then, the skill is still very clunky. And leap slam would be a nice movement speed skill but it's not like in poe 1, at all, it sucks. Way too slow.

So more checkpoints and more easily accessible ones would just be a great addition to the game in general, also should consider it for maps.

How can you not fix this very small thing that would be a no brainer and a pretty big impact for all players who tend to just run and don't pay attention to activating out of range checkpoints??...

This is for sure just a 1-minute work or not even that and could be deployed as a hotfix without even a game-restart

Yup, extreeeeeemely obvious.

Temple is the best example of needing useful checkpoint placement. Its just braindead obvious.

Play temple one fucking time and you will find yourself asking a couple questions:

Why am I warned when I leave to drop loot from my tiny bag?
Why can't I portal back in? How the fuck is Alva portaling to get medallions?
Are they mocking me with this single checkpoint at the beginning THAT I CAN NEVER ACTUALLY USE?!?!?!(by the way maps are very similar)

Does this gaming company playtest?
Why do so many ideas from this gaming company seem to not be completely thought through?

You show me a useful checkpoint in this game, and I'll show you an accident. I simply can't understand how they pull off such an awesome game, and endlessly fall on their fucking faces in the simplest ways.

No checkpoints in the temple.
No salvage in the temple.
Portals don't work in the temple.

Any player will play the temple one fucking time and come up with this list. The inconsistency is bonkers.

The bad devs must be responsible for checkpoints, thats the only conclusion to arrive at.

This issue only compounds as your temple grows. Right now, simply because of looting and walking simulation- I hate the temple. Its fine, it really is, but the experience of navigating/looting, is DOGSHIT. I dread when I get a portal to the temple. Just this, makes it feel like a terrible slog.

Who goes to allllll this trouble to make pretty darn awesome content, and then fucks it up by simply walking through it. Even the fucking room connections get fucked up in weird ways thats just not needed! Just make rooms connected that are next to each other!

Not to mention mobs crowding doors, the doors, gah. Temple, ick.

had me laughin^^

thanks for support

Edit:

And I couldn't agree more with the stuff you wrote.

The devs do such childish mistakes when creating cool stuff, that destroys a lot of fun for the player. And since the goal of a dev should be for a player to attempt any type of content over and over again, these childish mistakes, especially when being pointed out by players on the forums, should be IMMEDIATELY addressed and corrected and fixed and patched.

But these devs sometimes just don't seem to give a damn fuck. Likewise do players, when they just leave the game for good, or for the next season to arrive - just to introduce the same kind of patterns with different content.

Yeah Heavenly.

Its not that I dislike the game, they've done so much incredibly well. Its just a shame to have such a seriously great game, have such weird low level simple- and massively frustrating flaws.

Like, why can't dori the explori disenchant outside the temple?

So to disenchant... we seriously have to port out of the temple, then through the waypoint- to our hideout or whatever, and then back, and then into the temple... and then walk back to our portal- WHICH IS STILL THERE MIND YOU, to keep going in the temple.

If I die, I have to do the same walk.

I'm literally getting the same penalty for death, to loot. PHWAAATTTTT?!?!?!

Have they seriously not played the temple? I... can't... compute...

How many hours of development, of thought, went into that temple; and its just brutal to... la la la looooooot it.

LOOT, you know, what the game revolves around?!?! Gadzookes.
Its intentional by design.
First, you are not meant to snake. if you notice, at the end of all rooms not in a snake or at the end of the snake there is a checkpoint. so GGG thought you would be placing your rooms randomly.

Second, it does help to artficially inflate playtime. Look at trial of chaos. What is suppose to take 5-8 minutes max takes 15 minutes because the boss talks in every round, there are usseless elevators and long corridors. All meant to keep you playing the game longer. which is good for GGG. And also "friction".

I'm well aware of the stretching of a player's playtime due to dumb things placed all around wraeclast. Intentionally or not. It remains a thing that nobody wants.

And that will only counter the effect of 'stretching a player's playtime' because it is these things exactly that make players sick, and that will eventually lead to a player leaving the game either for good or for next season, and that all way too early because of dumb things placed when it absolutely doesn't have to be this way.

If a dev truly and intentionally is doing things like that, it's an absolute garbage trash dev. Period.

If a dev is not imaginative enough to have a workaround to avoid mechanics that a player will hate just to stretch some ingame time, then a studio better should replace this guy quickly. REAL QUICK.

It's not the dev, I think this is just how the industry works in the free to play game. It should be very easy to program it so that trialmaster says these lines only the first time you ever attempt him on a character. Each subsequent time he STFU and boom, you just made the game better. But nope. I think they will add these things and then later come with the fixes but most likely it's just how FTP games are. And I think most diehard fans including me will eventually get sick of it and move onto something else. Been playing since launch and already starting to see a lot of the annoying/frustrating bits about this game that is making me think this is not the best use of my time.
