CoC bugged on copper citadel boss?

Twice now I am unable to do anything to the copper citadel boss using a CoC blood mage build, I have killed every other boss multiple times and ran hundreds of maps without any issue. Is his hitbox too small to hit or something? I used up all my healing potions trying to hit him and nothing was happening.
