Temple nerf or unintended bug?

I understand getting medallions in the temple is rng based... with that out of the way, I've noticed a steep decline in medallion drops across all stages of a temple after the 19th of January.

I'm currently building a Russian spies temple. I'm not around the 1st turn yet (new character). Prior to the 19th I was averaging about 8 medallions a run with 3-4 spy masters, 5-6 barracks, and about 6 other t3 rooms. After the 19th I'm lucky to see 2 medallions in a temple with no major changes to the layout.

My friend has a completed original snake chain temple. We were seeing about 20-30 medallions a run with at least 6 locks dropping prior to the 19th. After the 19th we've gone 2 runs with NO medallion drops to speak of which ultimately bricked one of his chains combined with the bug which auto closes your temple.

I understand the temple closing is a bug. Are the medallions an unintended bug or was there a nerf on medallion drops. Anyone else out there experiencing the same issues?

There was obviously a nerf to locks, i have the finished 'fubgun' temple with all the spymaster 'russian tech' shenanigans, and i barely get 2-3 locks / 76 rooms. In fact at the moment my 2nd chain got half destroyed and i am just getting by with collecting 2 locks after each run without pre locking anything because i have no spare locks whatsoever. Atm i am pretty much 1 or 2 server crashes / runs without lock drops, away from getting not only secondary but also primary 'snake' getting destroyed.

So yeah, seems like GGG's idea of 'fun' is to not have enough locks to ever feel safe.

9 Spymaster, not dropping 1 lock in 2 runs, completely brick my temple, it's just a waste of time

12 spymasters, 15 legion barracks and got 3 medallions in 7 runs on my 76 rooms temple, down to 62 rooms. Lock medallions are not dropping as often anymore, don't try to build or farm on your temples until GGG addresses the situation or you gonna brick your temple as I did, gg o7

Well, I do get a fair amount of medallions, but I keep getting mostly the waystone affixes medallion. That's horrible.
