On the one hand, Permafrost Bolts now inherently pierces multiple targets as of Patch 0.4.0. When a projectile pierces a target, it can't fork from that target (until all pierce have been exhausted).
This may prevent you from seeing it fork. You may also have additional pierce chance on your character through other means that also applies to other skills. However, it was also reported that Permafrost Bolts are not forking even when using the Snakepit unique ring that prevents pierce, so there may well be an issue. If you are seeing a skill chain with the Gambleshot support, it should normally be able to fork before chaining (if the skill is able to fork). In that case, it would seem that you are seeing your pierce chance be exhausted by the time it chains. Edited to add: Fragmentation Rounds was also reported to not work with Fork in Patches 0.2.0 and 0.3.0. Whether this is intended for skills whose projectiles "fragment" in flight I have no idea, though if you were to see them chain successfully (and it sounds like it used to do so) I'm not sure why fork would be left out without saying so on the skill. Fragmentation Rounds also now has inherent pierce since 0.4.0. Last edited by Pehr#3739 on Jan 21, 2026, 1:19:40 AM

thanks for the reply, well they should just leave skill as they are, no native effect and stuff because we can add everything we want with support gems (pierce, chains, fork and other)
So now basically i have 3 socketables support that will do nothing with permafrost bolt. Fork will do nothing because it pierce first Pierce it already pierce so needless to say Gambleshot will only chain because of the above and the 15% less damage is absolutely not needed so one can use Chain support instead. |
