We still need to talk about the Juatalotli's medallions
|
Yes, I know, another post to talk about the lock medallions.
It looks like this topic divides the player base into tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorists and those claiming bad RNG. I know how RNG works, but let's be real, there is something wrong with it. I am not upset about a few unlucky runs, but something has been happening: Spymasters have almost stopped dropping Juatalotli's medallions. What I don't understand is how the description of the room can be "Has a high chance of Juatalotli's Medallion", and after 1000+ Spymaster rooms, almost 80% of dropped medallions are advanced medallions, but not Juatalotli's. I get the same rate of Juatalotli's drops from other rooms that have a chance of advanced medallions. There's either something wrong with Spymasters, or we need to change the room description to "High chance for advanced Medallions" to match what's actually happening in-game. I know there are several theories out there: - After X amount of Spymasters, the Juatalotli's drop is affected by diminishing returns. - The drop rate of Juatalotli's medallions is affected by the number of unprotected rooms in the temple run. - You've been cursed in real life, and now you have bad RNG. But I don't really care. What I care about is that the room description is misleading. If the vision is to have indeed Spymasters dropping advanced medallions, but a slightly higher chance for locks, can we change the description to "High chance for advanced Medallions, with higher chance for Juatalotli's Medallion"? It's annoying not to know whether it's a problem with my temple, a bug I should wait for a fix, or if the description is wrong and it is what it is. Can we at least have an official response from GGG about this? Last bumped on Jan 24, 2026, 5:53:36 AM

my personal opinion is that the lock medallion should be completely removed from the game.
all players should just create a straight path to atziri chamber. rooms will just be branched out both left and right of the central path. this will solve all problems and level the playing field for all players and create equal parity for all players. 34pre98qua

" I expect them to make substantial changes to the temple mechanic before it goes core, but if they only do what you say, it will basically become a dead mechanic that no one bothers with, because it just won't be worth the time anymore. |
|
" the temple will not be dead mechanic if ggg makes it such that only certain unique gems, unique runes, unique omens, etc, etc, that can only be dropped by atziri. 34pre98qua Last edited by stkmro#2432 on Jan 23, 2026, 5:24:19 AM

It'll be a dead mechanic if the rewards are not good enough. It takes a long time to set the temple up, and then rebuild it, if destabilization is allowed to happen. The rewards you get for the time investment should match the value of what you could do in the same amount of time spent in maps doing other mechanics. If not, no one will bother.

" What specific problems do you see, and what specific problems will your proposed solution solve? The playing field is already level for all players. The reward should be proportional to the time invested. The only problem with the temple is the developers' fixes, which don't fix old bugs but instead introduce new ones. What you wrote is complete nonsense. The temple mechanic is objectively the best thing that's ever happened to this game. I have every respect for whoever came up with it. What you're proposing turns it into yet another faceless, useless activity. The only problem is that GGG killed it with their fixes. Last edited by TheAbyssWa1ker#4578 on Jan 23, 2026, 11:19:10 AM

Previously, I consistently had 4-6 Juatalotli's medallions in a temple with 77 rooms and 12 Spymasters. Now I get 1 or 0 medallions of this type. My temple is nearing destruction. I haven't seen any mention in the patchnotes that the medallions will practically stop dropping out of the Spaysmasters rooms. This is either an error in the game's code, or an undocumented temple nerf. I only play temple, as this is the theme of this league, and I really liked it. At the moment, I'm suspending my game until GGG explains.

" Rewards will always be worth the time. The economy always balances itself for stuff to be worth doing as long as there's valuable endgame items that drop only there (Atziri chest, cultivation orbs, double corrupts). If it's more clunky to set up then it will even be more lucrative than mapping in terms of value/hr, because most players don't like clunky stuff. |
