Werewolf Shred not frost crystals on frozen enemies

just got back to the game since a month and noticed that sometimes frozen enemies bug out. Where when they get frozen and i use my wherewolf shred on them (the basic ability), no crystal explosion thingies get dropped on the floor. which just means you deal literally 0 damage.
Feels like the enemy actually entirely "froze" as in they can be targeted but cant at all be dealt damage.
