trial of chaos cant ascend patch 0.4.0d on xbox series x

I completed the 1st trial of chaos and got my rewards, but no ascendency points were awarded. I searched and found several similar posts, but didnt find anything from the last several months.

Do you have 2 points now? Did you complete quest Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum?

may be user error - i didn't see the alter to click for ascendency 1st time, but repeated and was able to ascend. may have just rushed past it. but it is annoying that you pass the trial and you have to do the extra step & are allowed to leave without manually collecting the points
