Character Creation - League Combo Box scares new-ish players into choosing the wrong league

You start with a good clear screen selecting your league:



Unfortunately after that there's a combo box that can mislead new-ish players if they happen to notice it and click on it. They are presented with a bewildering list of 8 items they don't understand, each item with more words than the last:


It is not clear at all that the correct choice is to leave it on "Fate of the Vaal". All these modes sound like a non-default game experience.

The one-word choice of Standard sounds the least threatening/most normal. The obvious, correct choice.

All your work on the prior league selection screen goes down the drain.

100% agree, from an UX point of view, character creation should be a single click action. The default should be the current league, soft-core, trade. If you are an experienced user you would know how to find what you want. That page is WAY too much info for some1 who is just starting.
