Steam Deck

Hey ya'll any of you play on Steam Deck for either/or POE1 or 2? If so how is it for you? And do you have any recommended settings for it?

tbh, it's running really great. i am personally running it standalone on my steam deck but using proton as steam does so it should be exactly the same. you should absolutely give a try !

As far as performance: you're likely to get some slowdowns with spammy skills and many mobs even after coming up with a decent gfx config but alas unless your pc setup is deepthought-adjacent that's prob the case anyway.

PoE2 has a much better controller layout imo. PoE1 is only really functional either with a hyper strict loot filter or sacrificing the "interact" button to not be a skill button (poe2 "interact" can be set to an arbitrary button, in my case right directional button).

I also think both games are pretty rough for any sort of micromanagement on e.g. inventory. I mean it's doable, just can be very tedious (escpecially true when alternating poe1/poe2 where things like keybind for navigate vs move stash tab are switched in the two: thanks satan). I usually will try to do any inventory task on pc and then just do zooming/mapping on the steam deck. In this regard poe is still behind d4 just on merit of simplicity of the ui. OTOH blizzard made it so playing thru steam deck either involves buying another copy of the game (lol) or using 3rd party software to run their launcher which ends up being buggy.

In summary, I'll play on the deck when I am watching tv or outside or whatever, but it's usually a relief to get back to mouse+keyboard to fix my stash and what have you.

hey Ladish appreciate the response, I can see now what you mean. I compared and contrasted with the pc setup and its rough to say the least. I am hoping they can come up with some sort of optimization in the future
