Less flashy/cartoony visual effects

I don't understand why you meticulously create such detailed and realistic world and then fill it with all those ridiculous "booms", "zaps" and "kapows". It looks silly and clutters the screen unnecessarily.
I wish for more subtle and gritty visuals. I don't need to see screen-wide supernova every time I cast something. And with martial weapons we need even less. Sure there need to be some indication of a skill being used, but it shouldn't turn the screen into flashing mess of every color. Maybe (and it is still big MAYBE, cause i'm not sure it's worth the clutter) scale the intensity of visuals with the skill level. So level 1 skill will be virtually unnoticeable, just few sparks and a little puff of smoke. While lvl 20 will be more prominent visually. And lvl 30 would take it to the extreme. And if we still need more action on the screen after that, I would prefer some gore. I don't see why vaal should have all the fun and we can't.
