'Tame Beast' Feedback
|
First of all: great skill. Many options, customizations and long-term excitement due to modifier variability.
However, there are some problems with it, I would like to see adressed: Problem I. Some if not all tamed companions are anchored too close to the player character. Because the companions can get very big ('hulking minions' support gem) they will constantly block out the view on the player character. Suggestion: Change how the tamed companions are anchored to the player character. Let them roam around the character at a greater distance. Problem II. The AI of tamed beasts seems to be inferior to newer skill gems like 'Wolf Pack' from the druid. The wolf pack is incredibly aggressive, attacking enemies on sight at a great distance. The tamed companions however are mostly passive and only target enemies in a very tiny radius around the player character. Often they completely ignore enemies standing only a few metres away. This makes them great at being stationary aura bots, but terrible at their intended role as a fighting companion. Suggestion: The Wolf Pack's AI is perfect in terms of aggressiveness, in my opinion, and should simply be copy-pasted onto the tamed companions. Problem III. The different beasts are VERY variable in terms of movement & sprinting. Some waddle around at snail speed, constantly having to teleport back to the player character (e.g. cerberic bat). Losing a significant amount of combat time while trying to keep up. While others can follow the player character without any issue, even while sprinting (e.g. stoneclad gorilla). Also, many beasts that are extremely mobile while not tamed, lose their mobility and running/sprinting animations once tamed. This just feels wrong. Suggestion: Maybe do a tuning pass for each companions movement speed, or somehow normalize it across all companions. Thanks for listening, GGG.
