Crazy boss damage after shadow patch

IDK if you all downloaded an update like I did today. It was a small one, less than 1 MB.
I just noticed that several bosses who I easily beat repeatedly in Tier 15+ maps juiced with 4 to 6 enchants are now dealing crazy amount of one-shotting damage. The maps doesn't even have any penetration, exposure or elemental weakness, not even crit bonus. With 85% reduction from armor, 70% armor applying to elemental damage, 3k ES, all resistances at 76$ on a Shaman with Avatar of Evolution. The mermaid boss that annoyingly dives into the water to avoid getting melted has attacks that did relatively little damage (waves, water spouts) prior to the update but these same attacks insta-kills my character and the water spouts are not even dodge-able as they instantly appear under the character. I swear, GGG loves these cheap one-shots so much. Real Souls-like games all telegraph these attacks but you can never tell what attack GGG shadow boosts to troll players. I mean does anyone else think that those bastards in the Vaal Temple that shoots those blue balls that hover in the air before detonating are dealing WAY too much damage and are now damage-sponges in 0.4?! These "changes" don't make your game "challenging" GGG, especially with all the screen cancer you put in to blind players to lethal attacks. Sheesh. If your gear is fine and you have a good defense, you will not get oneshoted by any boss, BUT, THERE'S A MOD THAT WILL KILL YOU REALLY FAST OR ONESHOT YOU FOR SURE, that's gain chaos damage... If you don't have any way to reduce it more than the 75% from chaos resist, any % will make the empowered bosses deal A LOT OF DAMAGE in you, especially if you build energy shield(take 2x more damage)
I'm running maps with -15% of elemental resistances, monsters penetrate elemental resistance, curse that decreases my elemental resistances and it's easy to tank some hits(for sure I can die, but hardly fast as against the gain chaos damage). If you don't have any way to decrease the chaos damage that you take, just try to avoid this modifier. I have 9k armour and 11k applying to elemental, but I increase it while mapping with Scavenged Plating and armour by damage dealt on my energy shield(the new spirit gem). I can't see any way to improve my chaos resistance(armour+energy shield), so I just avoid this mod that can reach +70% easily in some waystones. Even with +50% of any elemental damage and other +50% of other elemental damage, I don't have this problem. 2k life and 3k energy shield. Last edited by dalTKxadrez#5194 on Jan 11, 2026, 5:34:46 PM

Funny enough, i have also been hit much harder today for no reason that i noticed.
This is on weaker mods too. I in fact have organized my map tabs accordingly to which are dangerous and for the maps i regularly roll to go through fast easily. I can usually sustain some decent attacks before they go through my energy shield, Hovering around half to the lower portion of ES which is 90% manageable for me. But today being hit to all of energy shield and into half my life pool. I've been skeptical for some time about some periods being a bit dodgy. |

Havent see any difference today in other bosses doing same type of maps as before. Didnt fought the mermaid boss so might just be that one.
Still miss map without boss tough GGG... =) SSF player
