Comprehensive feedback of 0.4 The Last Of The Druids

Hello again GGG team and exiles. I am back, it's time for fourth comprehensive feedback and without further ado let's dive in.

Disclaimer

I will not touch on same subjects I talked in Previous Post again. There are still some really important messages in that post I want GGG to see and think about though.

General Feedback


• Why in the world, can't I use my map device obviously in my hideout when I am in a party with my friend? Why can't we map both of us in out hideouts and still be in a party at the same time, without game telling us that "I should be a party leader to open a map".

• Early to mid crafting is non-existent right now, it's a very hard job to gear a character if you are not playing trade. And in general Casino Crafting is very bad. Get 2 mod magic item, essence the third, desecrate fourth pray for fourth, fifth and sixth mods to be good is not crafting.

• Bosses spawning with DR is bad game design.

• Casters early on are swarmed with monsters. There is no real good skill to level a caster. EDC in A1 and transition to ember fusillade feels so clunky. Everything is either slow, has delay and is clunky during leveling. Casters are inherently slower in maps compared to fast attack based characters. I remember Jonathan said that in 0.4 they want to make maps good for slower characters, we are not there right now.

• In maps like Forge for example, it's insane that there is no control on where league mechanics spawn. Not taking into consideration that map design is not the best ever, I get rituals on bridge/corridor-like layout where third of the space is taken by the mechanic tree itself and rest is just hell. There is no space for me and 60 monsters to move around in that tight space. There is no space for me to evade anything when all monsters damage comes linear to me directly. What is this design? it's so bad. All I can do is either skip that mechanic on similar layouts (which means losing tablets) or yolo it and maybe die early on and eventually lose tablet and map. I would really love to see this reworked, so there is logic to where league mechanics spawn.
Another example can be having an Abyss Overrun map on that layout that results int 4 pits because it can not spawn and even if it could it would be a hell of a map to complete in that tight space. I really hope you will bring some agency on which maps we can run in 0.5.

• It would be hugely appreciated if we could make league mechanic and monster icons shown after killing a map boss and map being completed.

For example here I killed the map boss and cleared 95%+ of a map and I still am not able to see where is the last rare, or strongbox, or Azmeri Spirit etc.
I can't even imagine how many hundreds of thousands players in hundreds of thousands of maps have same problem.

• In general, on most maps checkpoint placement is horrible. I can't just post every picture of every map. Just let anyone run 20 maps consecutively in a linear direction and screenshot each map and you will see that they are placed totally wrong.

• Speaking of Azmeri spirits. Can they be accelerated? both in early and late games they are very slow. One either is faster than them and has to wait 3 minutes while it finds the monster to influence or just skips it. In case one has patience to wait and follow slow spirit it's very hard to wait for it to actually influence a rare for example because one can not just stand beside a pack of monsters without action and wait as monsters will kill the character right? This results in killing the prey for Azmeri and now it searched for next one and this loop never ends. It would be very very cool if it was fast and instantly possessed the monster.

• Boss atlas tree is out of balance. First of all I have no idea why in a world their life increased to tens of millions but rewards stay the same. Even with a tree that increases boss rarity, quantity and difficulty there is absolutely no incentive for me to get and use those 10 points to just make them live longer.

I love bossing in POE1 and want to love it in POE2. I played regular map blasting and bossing whole league. I did not touch snake temples, trials, rituals, abysses or anything else. I did breach and bosses in maps and only valuable drop from one them was 2 Divine Orbs. Others just dropped T15 maps and rare equipment that is useless. This side of endgame would be so cool to be viable in game for someone who does not want to giga-juice abysses and snake temples. Just want to kill lot's of monsters for example in breach and map and then kill a boss and continue to a next map.

Also those 10 points make citadel bosses completely out of hand. There life just skyrockets to the god damned cosmos and non of the drops are better except them dropping elevated fragments. I really don't see this sustainable, it's more annoying than fun. It feels very artificial.
And God Forbid you do it in a party with 1 friend.




Actually I mentioned this party problems couple times already so maybe we can touch that open wound I still have from party play.

• Starting from the first town being in a party with a friend does not feel as a shared progression. Me and my friend play together but we still have to do everything separately for our own progression. For example because of game instability I crashed and my character died in Tomb Of Consort area to monsters while my friend survived and continued playing. After I logged back in I found that I could not rejoin my friend after death and resurrection. I had to do that part of campaign on my own in my instance, and he had to teleport to me instead to continue playing together.

• Why in any world do I have to do all the same interactions if my party already done it before me?
Example: In A3 after killing the chimera boss we entered Jiquasni's Machinarium. I returned back to the jungles to find Trial Of Chaos area and get the waypoint for us to save time, while my friend cleared Machinarium to drop passive upgrade and rush to a boss so that by the time he is spawned I can teleport to him and finish boss of.
Guess what? when the time came for us to rejoin I had to pick up all soul cores myself too to put them into a socket and talk to Alva myself (in a different, new instance because he used all of them) and then do all the same content myself alone. Why do I have to do this if my friend already did it, and on top of that I can't even enter the next area (Sanctum) because he again used all the soulcores and I again had to create a new instance to clear and enter the room he was in.
I always try to stay professional and not curse. Try to give feedback in the most polite manner but this part of party play design is "instert the worst bad word you can come up with"

• Party play can not be this bad in POE2, it's unexcitable, more so I constantly hear "campaign, campaign, campaign" in interviews, podcasts and reveals.

• Even not counting all of these issues with campaign why on earth progressing together in maps is so horrible guys? what's up really?

Why me and my friend who want to level and clear Atlas together have to run unique maps, nexuses, anomaly bosses, league mechanics etc. separately to get our points. This is insane. Do you really can't understand how frustrating it is for example when you clear 50 maps with abysses together to get dark domain kill the boss together and only your friend get's the points for abyss tree because it's his map device? Even typing this made me feel bad. This has to change. It's so sad. We both had amazing characters and wanted to level something new to experiment together, we really tried and wanted to have fun together but on every step there was some kind of unsufferable problem.




P.S.

In general it's not a big new news but personally I have no idea what happened to my game. I have a very strong PC and I have almost never crashed since launch to mid 0.4. Suddenly, I logged in one day and I started to encounter constant freezes, network lags, crashes, game not responding's and so on.

I did not change one single setting in game nor on a PC. I was shocked with sudden loss of performance. Instability itself is very frustrating but on top of that to loose content to instability because you decided to punish us with everything you can for dying in a map or any other content. And we can't even go back into a portal that was lost due to crashing. To be clear - It's very very very very very very frustrating. I can't count how many eye of the storms, juiced maps, citadels and other valuable maps/loot I have lost to this game design and performance issues combined.

I did every logical and objective recommendation you and other people suggested on the internet but I can't help myself with anything. I play with constant pressure and fear that every map I log into will be lost and at some point it was enough so I stopped playing.

P.P.S.
From a player who did not benefit from pre-nerf (nor post-revert) snake temple
Leave the snake alone please. That league mechanic is in a very good condition, it's aspirational, players love it. Let it be. Let it be at least as far as something even better and aspirational is not introduced to game.
Although I have no idea how the endgame will look in 0.5 but in case it will not be received good it's would be amazing to have something to grow character for.




Thank you for all QOL and good upgrades and for every change that was implemented after listening to your player base. I look forward to 0.5 with a hope that it will be a game changer and also can't wait for 3.28 to be amazing and to log back into the greatest ARPG ever crated.

TLDR

Fix party play for campaign and mapping
Fix performance issues
Fix Map Reveal so it doesn't require last checkpoint
Fix Map mechanic spawn points for league mechanics stop removing juice from my map because you couldn't fit abyss on ledge

There is no incentive to do Citadel/Anomaly Bosses in party apart from doubling their health to test your build

boss needs to live longer to show me animation 20x health buffer for first 5 seconds = Bad design

Add Endgame so people have to choose what to do

This is not my experience; I had plenty of crafting materials this league, felt pretty over-powered during the campaign thanks to league mechanics, and only started using the market board deep into the Interludes.

You can run ahead of the spirits, they will follow you as fast as you can run. Now they will make their own turns to reach the closest rare so sometimes you make a guess in the general direction the spirit is going towards. Just be sure to not go away from the planned route they will take

I'm glad that you had a good experience. I was also using exalt and regal slams from league mechanic since A1 occasionally. In general it was all luck based crafting and that's what I don't like. I would love to have deterministic way of getting flat damage on my gloves and rings for example.

For me personally it's better to hoard all the exalts, alchs and essence drops and then liquidate them and then buy on a trade site a good weapon/rings/amulet/gloves to continue in campaign then just pray to hit a good mod on important gear pieces. I did my first sales in A1 for alchemy and exalts, and I did my first purchases with +# level of skill gem weapons and flat damage rings/gloves same way basically on every level threshold.

I logged in and tried it again. I see what you mean but I outrun them and all that routing and possessing feels clunky to me. Thanks for suggestion though. Fortunately it's not something mandatory or super crucial in general sense of gameplay, I just would love to see them more smooth. Idk man, for example whisps in the King of the mists domain are very decent.
