Post-Death Damage report/death replay feature
|
Problem: Players are frustrated and confused whenever their characters die and have no idea how it happened, especially when it happens very quickly. This is particularly true for two situations:
1) Death may have looked weird from the players perspective (perhaps an in game bug). 2) Player is inexperienced with the game and does not know what killed him, this lack of information and uncertainty ruins fun. What does this solve? 1) This helps with bug reporting whenever in game effects from skills or monsters have unintended bug(s). 2) If players can see a detailed breakdown of how they died in the last 5 seconds prior to death, it helps them learn what is the problem with their build and how to better fight the enemy on their next attempt, which removes the frustration of uncertainty and ignorance. Example of a simple solution from dota2: In dota2, when you died you were given the option to look at a death summary. This summary would breakdown for a few seconds prior to death: 1) What types of damage was dealt to you (physical/magic etc.) 2) Where did the damage come from (which monster or player) 3) All the largest sources of damages that contributed to your death were chronologically shown (so you saw what hit you when etc.) A better solution that requires more work: Death replay system Imagine having the option to click a 'view death replay' button beside the option to respawn or spectate and the game would then show you a replay in slow motion and with clear UI, point out things that hit/damaged you very hard and then killed you (like a quick 5-10 second replay). and then it would give you the button option to either watch again or return to the game (and respawn or spectate etc.) Keep in mind, GGG already has a system in place where the game can be paused, so having the game paused while watching a relay when playing solo can also be done.
