Seriously, what is the point of Sekhemas and Temple?

I'm asking honestly, not trying to troll here. I'm playing the druid and loving it. Most aspects of the game have improved immensely since launch and I find myself really enjoying the process of progressing into endgame and seeing how far I can get these days. That said, Sekhemas and Temple consistently piss me the F off and I can't understand what the point is or why people enjoy these so please help me understand. What am I missing?

Here is a typical experience I have. I'm 70 and doing a level 60 Sekhemas. Should be a breeze. I had almost no honor resist items yet. I lose up to half my bar here and there but I take it slow and get to the last boss with basically a full bar. 30 sec later, due to afflictions I had to take to get here, I've lost all honor and felt barely able to do any damage to him as I have to keep moving and avoiding so much sh*t. I just lost a god damned hour of my time, my Sekhemas key, and the items (including my only honor resist item).

I just can't express how f*cking furious and pissed off this makes me. What does anyone see in this? Does GGG want to put us through this hell so we can eventually, hopefully, have enough honor resist that all the sh*t shooting at us from off screen or unavoidably mobs pouncing on us, etc, that this will eventually become easier? Because I'd legitimately rather a dev just slammed my hand with a hammer and gave me a pass on these f*cking trials.

So please, if you enjoy these, please tell me why. Help me understand what is GGG's expectations for players here because this singlehandedly makes me want to quit and never come back.

P.S. Thank you in advance for all the well thought out inevitable "git gud" replies. I love you all, never change.

I agree with you. I skipped Sanctum in PoE1 and now have to just get through it in PoE2. At least for the first ascendancy.
3.27 Loot Buff never came
0.4 Endgame still causing character rollbacks
To reply to "what i enjoy" it's the kinda gauntlet part of something. Go in a dungeon and try to reach the end with it being more and more difficult.
I enjoy the new league temple mechanic for it also.

I dont find it very hard once i get enough good relic.
I play SSF so what i do is on my first charactere doing the lower level barya i got during the campaign and check every pot/chest inside + kill every mobs. You just need to do 2 or 3 runs and get quite the collection of relic to make the third and fourth ascenssion a lot easier. Honour resistance being the most important, you want it cap at 75%.

Some affliction are defenitly a big pain. I try to avoid "cant see affliction on the map" and i choose path that always lead to 2/3 different rooms even if one have a good reward but lead to a single room after (that you dont know yet what it contain)

While i struggled a lot at first, it became something i enjoy doing.

Temple of chaos is a different story, i dont really find it enjoyable at all. The challenges are not fun there and very repetitiv. The afflictions are sometimes death sentence. Tornado bird is way overtuned and if you get it last with all afflictions it's pretty much GG unless you have 1M DPS build.

Hmmm, yeah, skip pretty much every mob and chest, etc, just to get through it as quick as I can. I'll try this. Thanks.
If you are forced to take bad afflictions, it is sometimes better to abandon the run early and restart it. You should have plenty of honour resist though. I am usually capped (75%) or nearly capped after my second run. Maybe you just got unlucky with relic drops.

They are in the game cause GGG wants them there basically. They just have this idea that ascending needs to be a challenge for whatever reason. Call me lazy but if they just gave you 2 points at level 20, 40, 60, and 80 I'd prefer that lol. I just don't see why everything in this game needs to be such a chore but GGG likes it that way.

Surely they have the data on this. Like how many players, after ascending, run Sek - presumably to farm jewels? Like 0.5%?

Once I'm done ascending I never want to go back.

i really hate to say this. if the player's builds suxs, the player will have problems in trials. if the player's knowledge of game mechanics is insufficient, then the player will have problems in trials.

the trials are essentially a gear check, defense check, honor resist check, dps check, knowledge of game mechanics check.

if a player fails all the checks, then the player is not good enough and unworthy of attaining the trial.

Except that I have a build that can do all content but couldn't run Sekhemas for the life of it. Simply because the entire premise of the build is to get hit.

So no, what you are saying is just not true. Trial of Sekhemas is actually very build specific and very specific builds have it significantly easier than others.

The same goes for trial of chaos. Said build I meantioned earlier will clear trial of chaos no problems. Almost none of the things effect it except maybe regen and the poison/bleed one can hurt.
