Why the economy is actually fucked!
|
This forum is flooded with threats complaining about exploits, group farming, RMT and whatever else people can come up with to blame someone for the fact they can't afford the gear they want. None of it really matters!
For most players the only window into how others play the game is content creators. This makes it easy to think that everyone is exploiting/group farming/botting/... and that's why there is so much currency inflation. The reality is, the vast majority of players is just playing the game. They play solo, they don't exploit, they just play. And yes, a few at the top are getting rich using those practices. But they're not flooding the economy with currency, causing inflation. They're sitting on piles of money with nothing to spend it on. Most of their currency will never enter the economy in the first place. The real reason there has been massive inflation every league is crafting. Or rather a lack thereof. And mind you, this is genuinely the only relevant factor. All the usual stuff people are complaining about is negligible in comparison. Everyone is constantly generating currency by playing the game, but almost no one is spending it on anything but trading. That's what is "flooding" the economy with currency. If you think you made some money today because you dropped a couple of divs, think again. To increase your inflation adjusted wealth you need to farm currency more efficiently than the communities average div/hour. In other words, about 50% of the player base is losing money by default. This has nothing to do with skill or the use of unfair practices. It is almost entirely due to how much time each player spends on the game. If you have a family and are working a full-time job you're going to lose currency to inflation. That is a fact, no matter what GGG does. The players making money are students, content creators and anyone else who can spend large amounts of free time on playing video games. Now there is of course a solution to this. Make drops and crafting the primary source for gear. The reason everyone is spending their currency on trading is because drops are shit and crafting isn't worth it. So GGG can indeed fix the economy in an instant. But it's not going to be by banning exploiters or nerfing group farming. All they have to do is improve drop quality and fix the slot machine crafting experience. Last bumped on Jan 6, 2026, 8:59:06 AM

people playing temple is not an exploit, it was designed by GGG this way with many oversights as seen from the recent hotfix patches.
i dont think homo regals should have been removed, homo exalts were fine though there definitely needs to be a nerf to group farming (aurabot) and the party play bonus. |

" You are totally clueless. 1. You only consider div/exalt ratio 2. 99% of all usable items are crafted. Imagine You don't understand the reason for inflation. People do temple anyway, if they exploitng or not. They have no more than 24/7, half of their time played is wasted in temple, so the market feel the shortage of currencies rewarded from another types of content. To specify: omens are very expensive as an example. Last edited by DeiGratia#9031 on Jan 6, 2026, 6:42:26 AM

" now when the omens are very expensive, it should bring more people to farm for them, no? I sure have no idea what is going on, but I have played dozens of leagues and this time it has been really crazy I suspect there has been some massive market manipulation going on, among with other things, but what do I know IGN: Eric_Lindros
