Can't Log into the game

I just got done downloading the game via a key i received from a friend, and when going to log in a pop up comes up saying "Your account does not have access to Path of Exile 2 Early access. Redeem an Early Access key on our website or purchase access now." So now I'm confused as i redeemed the key on the epic game store, but i guess can't play. any help would be appreciated.
