POE 2 unlink Steam account

Hello,

I linked my second Steam account by accident and want to undo this and link my primary steam account. On the support page you can:

"To speed up this process you can create a verification code in game.

You can begin this process by logging into the game and typing /verify in the chat console to generate a code."

I generated the code ingame and paste it in the box but get an error message:

"Something went wrong checking your verification code."

Is the option not working? Should I contact support without the code?
