Zarokh 4th boss sekhema - how did i died?

Need help.. how did i died.

i was close to boss in some corner. he casted giant space rewind circle. i did not stepped on it. then he aoe exploded me somehow. and rods appeared.

no such aoe melee attack he can do.

there were no portals.

Should i step on that rewind circle next time? all it does it rewinds me back to it i assume. obviously its not collect clocks phase.
