Vaal Crystal progression resets after logout during Hooded Man portal event

During a Vaal Ruins encounter, the Hooded Man appeared and opened a portal.
I had to log out before entering or completing the event.

After logging back in, the event was gone and all previously collected Vaal Crystals appear to be reset.
As a result, all affected zones need to be re-cleared in order to re-trigger the event, and gear upgrade progression tied to Vaal Crystals is effectively lost.

This does not seem like a technical glitch, but rather a missing persistence safeguard in the design:
A logout or instance reset should not invalidate or roll back a meta-progression layer that directly affects character and gear progression.

The issue is especially confusing because the Hooded Man and portal are presented with strong narrative importance, which suggests persistent or quest-like behavior, while mechanically behaving like a temporary instanced event.

This leads to unexpected and punishing progression loss without any warning to the player.
