Vaulting Impact Broken Stance not applying damage in some cases

I think Broken stance from Vaulting Impact doesn't add damage to spell hits or thorns hit, but it does consume stacks. It specifies any hit should gain the extra physical damage but I can only get it to work with attacks. I think the tooltip used to specify attacks in a prior league, but now the wording just says "The inflicter's subsequent Hits against the target will gain additional..."
Methodology: lvl 50 boss and character and a big quarterstaff that does a hit around 2000-2700 to boss, wind blast for daze, getting 12 stacks of Broken stance up. I expect 200+ extra physical to be applied to my hits. Consumed the buff with various Hits, with armour broken for damage number testing using the boss damage counter. Tested melee hits with autoattack with a low level weapon. Normal melee attack does around 50 damage, or ~250 damage when consuming a stack. Working as intended. Tested getting hit with 33-49 thorns. Regular retaliations in the 40-50 range. Stacks of Broken Stance are consumed when I am hit but I still only get 40-50 thorns damage. Not working. Lvl 1 Entangle, hits boss for 10 initial damage and ticks of 3 damage. Quickly consumes all 12 stacks of Broken Stance for a total of....60 damage. Expected damage there is 2000+. Not working. I also tried by using armour break III to check damage instead of boss damage numbers, comparing the amount of armour broken between regular hits and hits consuming Broken Stance stacks. My melee hits would break extra armour with stance stacks but my entangle would not. Last bumped on Dec 22, 2025, 2:24:03 PM
