Cuachic Boss fight wont start

I respawned in the boss room after dying in a fight. The fight will not start despite my many efforts. I tried restarting the game, portaling out and back in, running around every corner of the map, yet the fight will not begin. However, the boss dialog continues to run no matter where on the map I am, making me think this is unintentional.
