Feedback on Wisps, Varashta skills, and crafting.

Let me start with the Disciple of Varashta, great ascendancy and a lot of fun - but: The active abilities desperately need tweaking.
First the good: Ruzhan's first point is solid because the passive strike he does is good. However the accompanying active ability is awful, you would only ever even press that button if you couldn't do anything else. I took it of my bar and don't even use it anymore. The damage is just barely passable, and the 3 seconds delay makes it not even worth bothering, as in 3 seconds that enemy will be dead already anyways. Using a support gem to fix the delay massively reduces the damage of all of Ruzhans abilities, this is never worth doing. Ruzhan's fury is bad. Several "projectile" support gems don't increase the damage, but even if they did I can't see myself using a point on this ever. Ruzhan's Reckoning isn't good enough IMO, but there's something there. It's almost a usable ability. Suggestion: Give it 4x the damage it currently has on the fire dot, so it's worth monkeying around with that. Ruzhan's trap doesn't work as expected with multiple projectiles, however this is by far the best of his abilities in my experience. Solid damage over time, and essentially 100% uptime. Very much usable and worth a point, but nothing special. Next the excellent (with caveats), Kelari: His first point is very good. A solid skill in itself, *does* work nicely with multiple projectiles, and applies crit weakness. Having 2 charges also helps! Kelari's Deception is the high point of this ascendancy. A generous 3 charges, and generous is also what I'd call the damage. Quick too. If you're going to deal damage via this ascendancy, *this* is the skill to focus on. Kelari's Judgement is clunky as f. You've got to channel it, can't be used while shapeshifted, cannot swiftly be repositioned while channeling, can miss enemies if they stand in between blades, and a long cooldown on top. Big nope. Kelari's Malediction is even worse though, congratulations. Beetles are slow moving and explode one by one, and the damage would be mediocre even if you could spam the ability freely, which you cannot. Weapon swapping deletes all your beetles. The beetle buff icon even has some relic tag in front of it that you forgot to clean up. Suggestion: Make the beetles actually attacking minions, and fix the "weapons swap beetle-ex". Navira I didn't use much, as she basically does nothing the f at all unless you have a specific synergy. Do you spam chilled ground everywhere (which nothing in this ascendancy does in a meaningful way)? Do you have 5000k mana (which would be much harder to get than ES)? If yes Navira might be useful, but baseline she does nothing. For a normal character her first point refunds the mana cost used on itself and gives you a very bad <500 HP shield, but only if you stay inside of the area, *and* the enemy is outside of that area. That is a button literally not worth pressing, let alone spending an ascendancy point on. Suggestion: At least make her bubble create chilled ground immediately on cast, or make it push enemies away or something. The other two points of feedback are mercifully shorter: Crafting is back to "I'm gonny buy an item instead of throwing my exalts away on the near-zero chance that I get a desirable result". This might sound flippant, but the hard truth is that buying items is vastly superior to crafting them. And wisps are really and truly awful. I'm halfway through a map, and the damn wisp decides to go back all the way through empty space, to find that one rare I missed at the beginning. And it's mega slow and I have to babysit it the entire way. Dear god please change these horrible things! NOTTTTT worth bothering with at all as is. Suggestion: At least make these walk to their rare of choice without me having to handhold it, then I can come back later after beating the boss to clean up the rare. Oh by the way, you can't assign Varashta active abilities to weapon sets. This needs fixing obviously.

I suppose a quick overview in form of a ranking could be useful, in regards to Varashta abilities:
S: Kelari's Deception. Quick, convenient, good damage. A: Kelari's 1. Solid, convenient, useful. Ruzhan's passive same. B: Ruzhan's Trap. Solid damage, dependable, but can miss. C: Ruzhan's Reckoning. Long cooldown for one instance of damage. Navira 1 (if not mana stacking), does very little. F: Navira's Oasis, Ruzhan's Fury, Ruzhan's 1, Kelari's Malediction, Kelari's Judgement. I wouldn't use them if they were free abilities. Special note: Navira's abilities except Oasis might be A or S if you build your entire character around them, I didn't have gear that would make this possible so I can't say for sure. |
