Herald of Ash question?!

I need an actual Dev to reply here to this question to shed some light of understanding.

Why does Wildfire or Firey Death or any fire based support gem not work with Herald of Ash? Is it too "broke" to allow for ignites from it to spread? Or enemies that die from explode from it? Why does ice and lightning get to benefit from all the support gems but Ash doesn't? Why can lightning and ice benefit from penetration but Ash doesn't?

Please shed some light on this matter and I want the Dev that is working on the heralds to weigh in not just any Dev because that person will have the answers.
