Please depower unintended combos instead of outright removing them

While I love how skills feel in this game it feels like PoE 2 takes away a lot from the aspect that made PoE 1 great, unintended and strange build combinations.
Just last league we had two really cool builds of the week, the Shotgun Lich and Grape Soda Incinerate, making use of cool and interesting interactions... which all got removed with this update. These interesting and strange combinations were what made me fall in love with PoE 1, so my feedback is that I hope PoE 2 takes a less prohibitive and more of a restrictive approach to combos. Take for example Shotgun Lich, instead of disabling the combo, just give the weapon more damage if it consumes life and lower the base damage a bit. Same with Grape Soda Incinerate or the new Rage consuming skills, let the skills generate resources while using them but make the cost ramp up the longer the continuous use like with Berserk in PoE 1. This way strong combos get brought down to a more manageable level but still allow players to be creative. Last bumped on Dec 16, 2025, 3:29:28 PM

Yep. I'd been under the impression that this game was all about coming up with cool skill combos on your own rather than just following what the devs intended for you to do; as it is it seems like there's 2 or 3 builds that they've decided in advance are OK for you to use and if anything else is even remotely decent they'll absolutely destroy it between patches and try to pigeonhole you into playing the game the way they arbitrarily want you to play it.
Who the hell wants to play with what is essentially a deity staring over your shoulder the whole time writing down everything you do and punishing you for it after you're done with your session? It's just a really bizarre experience, and one that is not for me at all. I quit this league after 9 hours. Won't be coming back until they fix what they broke. |
