Need more information about the Vaal Temple

The temple mechanic seems to be more unstable than Vaal Orbs themselves.
One time I exit and can go back again.
One time I exit and it just closes.
One time I can die and return back then next time it closes or tells me I cannot go back in.
Why is there no in game information or warning about how it all works ?
Or maybe there is but I cannot find it ?
It was said in the trailer that we can "store" the temple usage for later but how does it work ? Can I store 6 charges only (so one use) or maybe 12 ? Or more ? Or maybe it sometimes stores it and sometimes it just resets ?
If I don't use the rooms do they stay unused or are they lost ? If I place the rooms does it reset my stored Energized Crystals ?
There is (I) in-game information but it is not nearly enough. Do I really need to burn 60+ maps in order to troubleshoot the basics of the mechanic ?
Not only that but yet another league mechanic (after abyss) that does not allow you to directly port to town/hideout is really annoying. Why ?! What is the purpose for it to be this way other than adding unnecessary backtracking and multiple loading screens ? If it is a technical limitation I could understand but please if it is a design decision or simply an oversight change it.

I want to enjoy this mechanic it seems really cool but as of now I am confusion.

I'd settle for any kind of guide on how room placement works honestly, it's not consistent at all. I've had room connect that don't make sense, and other rooms that seem like they should connect based on how they interact elsewhere on the map, that aren't possible to place.

yep. ive been able to leave and return for loot dumping, every temple ive done until today. i suspect something changed in the b patch from today.

doesnt say anything related though.

so really great, it destroyed a temple i had been working on for like a whole day.

since you know, id been conditioned since league start to know that i can leave no problem.

so now im just not gonna do the temple... and in turn, probably just gonna call it for the league. because that was the fun part for me.
