regal workbench

Yo just a question :

I m happy with temple but need to understand something :

I put a nice magic shield on a regal workbench but it changed totally my item like a corrupted regal could do it if it existed. I finished with a 2 suffix 2 prefix useless shield with differents stats. Is it normal? It s the first time i experience it with a regal workbench
