Trials Of Chaos Is Bad Game Design, Period.

It would be less frustrating if it just rolled between 0 and 100, and you only succeeded if you got an 85 or higher.
The choices are pure RNG stacked on pure RNG stacked on pure RNG stacked on pure RNG stacked on an RNG for the boss that can be easy or hard based on which boss it randomly picked and based on what RNG choices you had for every step of the rooms beforehand. It's trash. It's not fun in the slightest to have the game decide to shove the worst choices possible for every room (Doubling debuffs/halving buffs, bosses take less/do more damage, getting turrets that shoot & WILL be set up to cover 99.9999999% of the boss arena, getting slowing hears (and being given the vomit-rain boss that WILL nuke you because you can't move fast), etc). It's so goddamned random, and REQUIRED to get 2 goddamned Ascendancy points. Why in the nine hells is CHARACTER ADVANCEMENT locked behind the most random trash mechanics in the game? Please, devs; Remove the RNG BS that is the Trials and the Chaos trials. Or, at least, allow people to advance Ascendancy based on LEVEL, not this garbage, and give this RNG garbage different, OPTIONAL rewards. Last bumped on Dec 14, 2025, 10:59:34 PM

" If you're in a trade league, it is straightforward to get gear that minimizes RNG. For example, get a corrupted jewel that provides immunity to corrupted blood, and slot it if you get the debuff that spawns corrupted blood. In endgame, get a Rakiata's Flow and choose the debuff that gives monsters 40% resistances -- that makes the rooms much easier because you're doing 40% more damage. Etc. In SSF, it's harder, but same principle. Evasion-only melee character that can kill Ubers with cheap gear (SSF Rise of the Abyssal), no armor, no energy shield, 62k eHP:
