Could not interact with Tablet Research Vault

While doing a run in the new temple mechanic, I had the chance to go into the table research vault room. I picked up the tablet from the chest, and talked to Alva. The room locked down and there was a checkpoint that was not lit up, but there was no other prompt and no way for me to interact with anything else. I ended up have to portal out and not get to do whatever that room was supposed to do.
