Can't interact with console in Vaal temple

So I did six beacons and ran a temple once. Then I did six more and added six more rooms. But I didn't have any crafting to do at the time, so I left it as it was, and did some more beacons just when levelling normally.

Now even though the portal to the temple shows up when I do another beacon, and I can go to the temple and the console rises out of the ground, its become non-interactible -- I can't run the temple or add more rooms.

That's it. I seem to be completely locked out of the temple plan screen.
