Maybe it's time to start balancing around SSF already?

I mean seriously. Especially after async trade was introduced, balancing around trade leagues is a pointless endeavor that's only making the game worse. One has to balance around the assumption that players will have at least high or god-tier gear because nothing below that exists.
Skills are being nerfed because they overperform with high-tier gear, and since high-tier is the floor, of course they gotta be nerfed hard. At this point there can be no such thing as "balance" in a trade league. It's something only achievable in SSF. So why bother? Leave the balancing to SSF. Everyone will end up happier. There will be at least *one* (actually, two, if you consider both hc and sc ssf) game mode that is balanced. A mode where an item can be absurdly overpowered and it'll be fine because it's rare. A mode where a build can blow up screens but it's difficult to gear so it doesn't need to be nerfed. That won't make trade leagues any more unbalanced than they are now, because they're already beyond salvation. Last bumped on Dec 12, 2025, 7:47:40 PM

I'm not even playing SSF, but I absolutely agree that the game should be balanced around SSF. No doubt.
Basically trade league can balance itself thanks to flexible economy. The way campaign should be played by your second and any subsequent characters: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3772827

-1 I've only played SSF and don't want my progression to be as fast as trade league. I don't even bother with item rarity either. I also have only been using skills that sit at 0.2% usage rate and cleared endgame just fine.
Maybe trade league is for you. Just set limits for yourself I only play SSF and it is my duty as one to inform you of my status. Last edited by SoFaux#7759 on Dec 12, 2025, 3:16:29 PM

holy shtt finally someone agrees with me. ha wrote posts about this too. the most rewarding mode should be SSF and both modes should be balanced separately

This would be one of the biggest motivations for me to come back to this game. I can't stand trading. I want to farm my gear. Currently it's way too painful. |
