Please don't remove IIR from gear
|
I know some players don't like it, but for me and the subset of players like me, getting IIR on gear feels great.
Absolutely fair to tweak it, and yes there will always be people who feel like it's binary "you want X IIR or 0 IIR", but that's fine; that's how it is with every other mod/affix in the game. What IIR does do is increase your drops at the cost of power via an affix slot in a way that other affixes don't. It's nice to not only be after straight power (or power/utility like move speed) on every single affix slot. It's nice to have at least some asymmetrical affixes, and there are many hours of gameplay between <start> and <perfect Endgame build> where IIR waxes and wanes, which is a small but nice and dynamic difference. Related but sort of separate: If IIR were to be removed from all/most gear, I wonder how people would feel about boots having the option of move speed or IIR, but not both. Perhaps that could be a interesting decision for players between faster-but-worse-drops or slower-but-better-drops. Last bumped on Dec 5, 2025, 10:29:38 PM

The game is about loot. Whatever gets you that loot is what you want on your gear. You need to survive to get loot and kill to get loot, but most of all you need loot to actually drop that *might* be worth picking up.
So maybe you haven't thought about it this way but: almost no equipment is worth picking up. Bases and blues were worth something due to crafting in 0.3. They will be worth a little less with the removal of The Omen. This means your best(most valuable) drops will be currency. If you don't have IIR then you still get tons of currency, but it is limited to Transmogs, Vaals, and Exalts. Those currency drops get upgraded to better currency with IIR. So in summary, IIR is required to get the most valuable drops. Playing without IIR feels extremely unrewarding. Since 99% of players are going to only wear items they bought on the market, they will need currency. And unless they RMT they will be needing gear with IIR on it to break out of poverty. IIR can stay in the game if they change it. Make more T5 items drop. Make the rare boss loot drop more frequently. But it cannot make better currencies drop or it becomes a requirement(like movespeed), but on every single piece of gear that has the stat. |

Didn't farham find that Tier 7 maps were best for basic currency?
He found out that from Tier 8 maps onwards Greater and Perfect orbs were being introducted so that diluted the loot pool even more so you would actually have LESS chance to get your basic currency like Divines etc. So that means you have to go even more crazy with IIR to even get a fraction of what you need an higher tier maps or for some reason play at tier 7 I think it would be best to just take currency out of the IIR table and just have that solely for gear/weapons, there are so many permutations of gear/weapons already, getting one close to being good enough to craft with (especially as that has been nerfed) is already hard enough even with IIR Last edited by Drayvn#7423 on Dec 5, 2025, 9:30:24 PM

Remove it. It is a blight.

" Agreed, in theory I love it, in practice I despise it. It also greatly benefits some classes and builds over others. Which is some of the issue d2 had. You know it takes to farm? It takes BRASS BALLS to farm items and currency. Go and do likewise gents. Currency is out there. You pick it up, it's yours. You don't, I got no sympathy for you.
