[bug] There is a way to support spells with attack support gems.

I keep it short:

If you support any skill with living lightning support, the supported skill will be supported by all support gems that are able to support living lightning, even if it states that it can't be supported.

Fireball with ruthless support? Yep.
Shield charge with multistrike? Sure.
Rain of arrows with pulverise? Go ahead.
Want to apply withered? Support a ball lightning with unleash, living lightning and withering touch, and voila, ballighning applies withered on hit.

Most of the gems don't do anything, but some work partially or fully. Withering touch and behead, for example. Multistrike is fun on whirling blades, leap slam and shield charge (even tho it explicitly states, that you cannot support it with multistrike).

It is fun, and does not realy breaks anything, but it is still a bug.
