I tried PoE2 again after day 1...

I wsih I could love PoE2 as much as I love PoE1.
Unfortunately I feels tired every single times I play PoE2 even though it's just trying to finish an area of the act 1. In PoE1, I'm a campaign enjoyer. Because I don't get to feel the hurdle of early game for too long before I get powerful enough to enjoy the game. Maybe like 30 minutes before I feels good about my characters once every league start, then the new characters will feels much better even with bad builds. Then the problem of PoE1 for me is the great chasm after the campaign to cross. I used to be able to push T16 with Act9 gears with subpar builds, but this league somehow I can't even push through yellow maps despite having the gears in the best of the baseline generic rare gears from the tree. It's like my defense never enough, and my damage is far from enough despite pushing so much. The only build that I feels like it's able to cross this chasm easily while still get decent defense is earth shatter berserker. But it's boring af. You gotta warcry piano if you want real damage, because the warcry buffs are too strong that they're mandatory to use instead of autoexert. Now why I cited my PoE1 experience ? Because I feels the exact same way in PoE2 Act1 even after 3 hours. The worst part would be I feels like a drag pushing through. I'm so bored that I want to uninstall right away. Some may say "this game might not be for you". Pal, I paid for early access when I saw the button available. That should be enough to tell that I also wish PoE2 to be a good game. The furthest I pushed for PoE2 was Act 2 and stuck at that big guy as a blood mage with confuse build didn't know where I want to go. The game is punishing too much when you're not decide on the build early enough, though I don't know what it's like right now. Maybe I can push through since they nerfed some stuffs ? But unfortunately, I can't even push after I finished the graveyard area. It's not like my character is too weak, I can progress even the wolf guy. But it's such a drag to play. I don't even know why. It feels so tiring every single times I play PoE2. Dude, I can play 6 hours session on PoE1 through campaign without feeling such a thing. I can even continued in maps until I once more confronted with the vast chasm that I can't seem to fill. No, I don't do shipment. I feels like I'm a slave when I have to find money to feed those hungry farmers. I'm sorry but I'm not here to be your slave. Then I heard Lance said about "people don't know how to progress with their gears crafting". Well somehow he's right. I don't even know what kind of build I'm playing. I do know how to scale and how exactly the defense works. I obsessively read every game mechanics in poewiki and understood them enough. But I don't know how to balance them properly. Maybe it's not even the matter of balancing, because I feels lacking in everything. I never get my hands on some weird and interesting builds, because I never get enough currency to buy the gears, or have enough power to farm them. I tried to push my baseline characters and see how I can push fun skills to play. Dude, I wish I can use blasephemy temporal chain with increase effectiveness in every characters. The monsters are way too fast that even the fast builds don't really feels like I'm fast enough. Maybe it's the physical limitations, so it's hard to perceive the game when the speed is higher than a certain threshold. But the problem is that every single builds I have to use purity of elements for elemental ailments immunity. I feels like every single mobs got some kind of ailments of debuffs to apply to you. It's like I have to be always immune to everything in order to feels like my character won't become too weak. Maim, hinder, quick sand, entangle, etc. As if the ailments are not enough to make my subpar character feels like a white mob. This is still not mentioning that there are curses from mobs which got level 40, so the effectiveness is through the roof. I'd need to have like 60% reduce curse effectiveness in order to feel like those curses won't do as much to my character. But as if I can fit them in my characters, so most of the time it'd be at most around 30% from a jewel. Oh right, somehow I feels like I have to always take all 3 attributes to at least 150 or something. And push at least 2 of them above 220. Which made me wasted so many points on 30 attribute nodes, sometimes it's 6 points + travelling. I always wear heavy belt for 35 str, and reluctant to use some nice unique amulets because I have to wear dual attributes implicit amulets. I think I have problem with indecision. That's why I try to fill out every shallow holes and ended up mediocre. Last bumped on Nov 28, 2025, 9:13:05 AM

" So, twice, correct? Title suggests it's your second try. Poe2 > Poe1 btw. Poe1 lacks qol from industry standard last 2 decades. No wsad is ridiculous. No tooltips is just tragic. Feels really outdated. Gameplay is an epileptic fever dream. If you enjoy it, good for you. Poe2 needs to be different than poe1. It's already better. Seems like you don't like to face challenges and just zoom forward instead. Poe2 won't be for you. Last edited by Evergrey#7535 on Nov 28, 2025, 3:03:58 AM

" Honestly cannot count the number of games i bought thinking i would like them but i didnt after all. It happen. Never felt the need to ask the devs to change thoose games for me. You see a teaser or some infos, think "damn that look great" but than it isnt for you. Now i understand if you were a big fan of the first opus of a franchise that you're disapointed your beloved game isnt the same anymore with the second opus. It feel meh. But it happen a lot too tbh. Can only stick to the first one or come back later to see what they changed eventualy. Obviously they're trying to do something different with the second one. I'm sorry it feel that way for you tough. PoE2 is a great game for many people and i hope personaly they stick to what they started. If you really want to play it and need build advice or infos can also search for thoose. Like you def dont need all your attribute to +150/200 for exemple. Can ask in the build section or the discution section for thoose. Google do wonders also. SSF player

You're in love with the power creep and the devs try to avoid it. Not exactly a match made in heaven.
They're clearly not reworking early combat again, that'd be a very resource intensive task. Besides, lots of people are enjoying it. |

Honestly you should give it a 3rd go.
Builds need some time in POE2 to get momentum. It feels slow in ACT1. In ACT2 you will see some flashes of light in the dark. Somewhere in the middle of ACT3 you will notice you want those MS upgrades on the boots, because everything dies instantly. And from ACT4 onward you will not notice it is POE2. Do not do stupid shit like picking Warrior. Pick Bow/Crossbow/Monk and you will have POE1 experience inside POE2. Trust me, try it again. Last edited by Skellymancer#5263 on Nov 28, 2025, 6:56:06 AM

" it's funny because somehow I feels using mouse to move feels much smoother in PoE2. the wasd is like a hurdle to overwhelm my already busy left hand. Once you mastered the mouse movement, you'll feels the game is so much easier to play. |
