Item mods applied through holding alt with augmentation don't highlight

If I alteration orb into a mod i have on my filter, it highlights. However, if i hold alt using an orb of alteration and apply an augmention that way, and it creates the mod, the item will NOT highlight until the item is moved.

For example, I have in my filter "7% increased maximum life". I alteration orb a jewel and it gives me a suffix, but open prefix. I hold alt to apply an orb of augmentation which generates the prefix "7% increased maximum life". the jewel does not highlight, but if I move it, it does.
