CrossPlatform 2025/26

Do you think this will ever happen? After the release of poe 2 and how incredibly well this has worked, I have a bunch of friends who would like to continue the guild in poe 1. Wouldn't this be a good time to do something about this? In my situation, which I think there are many of., it ends up with the guild dropping poe 1 and waiting for the poe2 patch in December. I think you might miss out on a lot of players. And I'm not thinking about the pros, cons, economics, and tools pc/console. Just from the starting point of expanding the player base. There's something incredibly special about playing these games with others!
Does anyone know anything about this? I'm taking into account that there could be something completely elementary that makes this impossible tho.
And I know there are many posts about this. but maybe not considering the situation we are now in after the success of poe 2.

I'm sure they want to. It's straight up a licensing issue with sony/MS who had to be publicly outed after years of falsely claiming crossplay wasn't possible. I don't see the console makers budging on old licenses unless they get forced into it by a class action lawsuit, and I wouldn't hold by breath in the current political/business climate.

TLDR: would be great, unlikely to happen.

This isn't the case for a long time, as Digital Extremes managed to implement Crossplay and Crosssave across PC/PS/Xbox/Nintendo Switch in Warframe.

Honestly, I doubt GGG has the manpower to properly maintain sync'ed updates across all platforms.
